Snapshot of Rescue

What does rescue look like when you’re stuck in a pit you can’t get out of on your own?

In Psalm 40:1–3, David gives us a snapshot of rescue: a before, an after, and a because. Whether the pit is sin, addiction, illness, loneliness, or difficult circumstances, God is the one who lifts us out, sets our feet on solid ground, and gives us a new song.

Charles Zimmerman reminds us that every rescue points to the ultimate rescue found in Jesus. And God doesn’t rescue us only for our good, but so others can see who he is and put their trust in him.
