BRIDGE DISABILITY MINISTRIES

Welcome, We’re glad you’re here!

We believe that every person is created and loved by God. We desire for all people to know God’s love, connect with others, and experience accessibility and acceptance in their life within a church family. Bridge Disability Ministries exists to guide families and their children impacted by disability into a growing relationship with Jesus. We do that through inclusion as well as environments designed to meet their individual needs!

    Sunday Mornings

Our Sunday morning Bridge classes provide a safe environment for kids, students, and adults with disabilities who benefit from more individual attention and a smaller classroom size. We welcome Bridge participants into our classrooms for worship as well as age-appropriate activities.

  • Children at an indoor play area, some raising their hands and engaging in an activity, with colorful walls and decorations.

    Inclusion

Buddies are available Sunday mornings in early childhood and elementary classes for children with disabilities who are registered with Bridge. This program supports kids in attending Calvary Kids’ programming.

    Respite

The whole family benefits from Respite as caregivers replenish their emotional, physical, and relational health while their children enjoy a fun program with friends. We offer both gross and fine motor activities, crafts, music, and a sensory space. A nurse is available for any medical needs. Space for this program, which meets monthly, is limited, and registration is required.

Interested in Participating?

If you're interested in your Kid (early childhood - 5th grade), Student (6th grade - 21) or Adult (22+) participating in a Bridge program, you can begin the process by completing the Bridge Information Form.

Due to the nature of Bridge programs, we require that you complete a Bridge Information Form and family meeting with a Bridge staff person prior to attending any programs. As we are unable to take walk-ins, if you would like to speak to a Bridge staff member or set up a tour, please contact us - we would love to connect with you to get to know you and answer any questions you might have!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We strive to accommodate as many kids, students, and adults as possible into Bridge programs. As Bridge staff works together with your family, we use the information from the Bridge Information Form and the conversations with you to determine program placement. There are times when we may accept an individual on a trial basis, or there may be a waiting period while we set up environments to support your child.

As much as we would love to serve every child, student, or adult who would like to attend our programs, we do have limitations. We want to be sure we can support your child well. If we are unable to accommodate your child, we will try to help you find other appropriate and helpful resources.

  • Our Bridge staff is made up of trained professionals in their field, collectively bringing 40+ years of professional experience working with kids, students, and adults as well as their families. They have education and experience in special education, education, therapy, as well as other specialized training in supporting individuals with disabilities.

Each of our programs is run with staff leadership and volunteers. Each person has been through an application and screening process. Each has also met the Pennsylvania state clearance requirements, mandated reporting, and has been trained to work with students in areas of disabilities and safety.

  • We use a variety of teaching approaches including adapted activities, hands-on learning, gross motor opportunities, communication support, sensory spaces, specialized equipment, and more.

  • We have emergency information on file for every student in Bridge programs and have a paging system to reach you if needed. We monitor our hallways and have a security team that assists us as needed. Each child checks in at a computer station when they arrive and wears a name tag that has important information on it. We have a two-person rule so your child is never alone with one adult. Our staff has been trained in emergency procedures.
