VISITING CALVARY?

We'd love to meet you! In our atrium right outside of the main auditorium, we have a Next Steps space available for you to visit where a volunteer will help you figure out what next steps might be right for you and your family to take to get more connected with the people and ministries at Calvary.

 BAPTISM

sky-2.jpg

WE BELIEVE THAT BAPTISM IS AN OUTWARD REPRESENTATION OF A PERSON’S FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST.

THE MEANING OF BAPTISM

Baptism symbolizes an individual's identification with God, Christ, and his people. The new relationship is based on God's grace through one's faith in Christ's finished work on the cross. (Acts 8:26-40; Acts 9:18)

THE PURPOSE OF BAPTISM

Baptism is a one-time act that gives a person the opportunity to publicly confess to that individual's community (his or her family, friends, and the church body) that he/she has received Christ as the forgiver of his/her sins and the leader of his/her life.

CLARIFYING STATEMENTS

  1. People do not get baptized to have their sins forgiven. They get baptized because their sins have been forgiven through Christ’s death and resurrection.

  2. People do not get baptized to get closer to God. They get baptized because they are already close to God through faith in Christ.

  3. People do not get baptized to please God. They get baptized because Jesus Christ has already made them pleasing to God.

  4. People do not get baptized merely to become members of the church. They get baptized because they are already members of the invisible church, the universal body of Christ which is made up of people who have put their faith in Christ as their forgiver and leader.

Have you ever been so excited about something that you just had to tell someone about it? Making a commitment to accept Jesus as your Savior is a pretty exciting event that is definitely worth talking about and celebrating. Believer’s Baptism is a picture of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and an opportunity to express to others that you identify yourself as his follower. If you have never been baptized before, or if you were previously baptized as a baby, consider taking this next step in your faith journey.

 MEMBERSHIP

sky-2.jpg

EVERYONE IS INVITED!

We believe that God invites everyone to become part of his family through a relationship with Jesus. One of the primary ways God extends that invitation is through the local church. The church is sent by God to invite others to explore a relationship with him, experience a community that lives out the values and principles found in the Bible, and to ultimately discover what it means to place their faith in Jesus and to live for him.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Membership is a way to identify with Calvary Church, embrace our beliefs, values, and vision, and commit to extend those same things to others. At Calvary, we say the vision of the church (and therefore each member) is to Continue What Jesus Started.

As a formal organization with official business to conduct, we ask members to participate in a variety of activities: vote on budgets, approve construction projects, and appoint elders, among other important tasks. Therefore, it is through the collective voice of the members that major decisions are made to further the mission God has for Calvary.

DISCOVERING SERIES

Completing the Discovery Series is a requirement to be a member at Calvary Church. These classes are a good way for you to learn about Calvary Church and to start getting connected.

The classes are offered in the fall and in the spring and are held on four consecutive Sundays at 9:00am in Room 218.

The next series begins October 6 and runs for 4 weeks.
