It's been a month...
...since our Grand Opening services at Calvary Church Quakertown and our new campus is becoming a busy center of activity Sunday mornings! Have you visited us yet? Have you been thinking about checking us out but aren't sure what to expect? We welcome you to join us at 9:00 or 10:30am this Sunday to see for yourself what a great community we're building at Calvary Quakertown!
Sunday Morning Services
Calvary's new Quakertown campus meets at Quakertown Christian School on 50 E. Paletown Road, Quakertown at 9:00 and 10:30am. Our services are contemporary in style, reflecting the same stage design and music that our Souderton campus offers. Lead teaching pastor Charles Zimmerman preaches from Souderton and the Quakertown campus enjoys the message via Simulcast, allowing both campuses to learn and grow together as one church in two locations. Our worship team is led by Wayne Nguyen (if you've been to Souderton, you'll recognize him from the band there) and he's joined by a team of talented, energetic musicians each Sunday morning for praise and worship. Carlos Velez is Quakertown's campus pastor (for many years an associate pastor at Souderton) and he works to help the new campus gel by building relationships, supporting the volunteer teams, and welcoming new families who are checking out Calvary for the first time.
"In Quakertown, Calvary Church has the same win as we always had in Souderton. We desire that you hear a relevant explanation of the gospel and experience a lived out application of the gospel. Our Quakertown campus offers us the opportunity to carry out that win in new intimate ways that center around relationships and connection. Our processes may be different at times from Souderton, but our mission remains the same – to continue what Jesus started."
We offer Kids Ministry for children birth – Grade 5 during both our service times. Classrooms are set up with bright themes and age-appropriate activities for learning and play. Parents check in at the Kids kiosk where security name tags are printed, making drop off and pick up easy and secure.
Scott Little who volunteers in our Kids classrooms says,
“Calvary Kids is the highlight of my week. Relating Bible stories to help our kids understand Jesus’ teaching is a rewarding experience.”
Our Quakertown campus is excited to offer a Students Class for grades 6-8 during the 9:00am hour. This grouping reflects the middle school model and allows students to feel comfortable in a setting that is more in line with their school experience. They get to eat breakfast food, hang out, and participate in small group discussions on faith topics as part of their Sunday morning experience. Students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to attend service with their parents and join Sunday morning volunteer teams as part of building the campus community.
Kristen Yoder whose 3 children are in the Students age group remarks,
"The smaller size of the group has given students the opportunity to form meaningful, authentic relationships with each other and the leaders. The leaders are completely invested in our students and have planned learning times which allow the students to dig deeper into their faith. The student ministries has also encouraged our students to serve... many of our Calvary kids classes and our set-up team are staffed by our student volunteers. It has been a joy to serve with these students and so exciting to see them serving in so many different capacities!"
Calvary Bridge Disability Ministries
Quakertown continues the ministry started at Souderton for our families impacted by disability. Bridge programming at Quakertown includes self-contained rooms and inclusion buddies during the 9:00am hour. A special feature is the Sensory Room which is designed to help children refocus and calm their overloaded senses. Fiber optics, a bubble tube, trampoline, and other elements create a perfect setting when a change of scenery is needed.
New attender and mom of 3 children with autism, Brittany Reiger, has great things to say about Bridge.
"After being on the wait list for Bridge Ministries for 5 months, Quakertown's Grand Opening was our first day & became our home. We have felt welcomed, loved, & accepted every day since."
Long time Souderton attenders, Doug and Amy Landis, agree.
“The disability ministry at the Quakertown campus continues to be a blessing. Brooke loves it and since Calvary's grand opening, 3 of her friends have become regular attenders because of this ministry! We are so thankful for a church that makes disability ministry a priority!”
Volunteer Teams at Calvary
There are so many ways to connect at Calvary Quakertown, even in the early stages of our growth. Volunteer teams are the quickest and easiest way to meet new people and find a common purpose in serving Sunday mornings. From set up to parking, Kids to coffee, we have lots of ways to meet the families who are attending our new campus. Stop by the info HUB or visit our webpage to learn more!
Wendy Wiedemeier, a Calvary Kids and worship team volunteer can't contain her excitement about serving.
"It's hard to put into words how I feel about serving in Quakertown. The new friendships I've made and the existing relationships I've deepened, as we serve side by side, are things you can't put a value on. Quakertown is a special place, with amazing people, joyfully serving our awesome God!"
There are lots of events coming up soon including Easter services and a day of service in the Quakertown community called Spring Into Action, April 22. We hope you can join us for one of these or a Sunday morning service. We look forward to meeting you!
