Hosted by Women's Ministry, grandmoms, moms and daughters 6 years old (first grade) to 106 years old are invited to join us for our Dessert Social. Feel free to attend with a "spiritual" grandmom, mom or daughter if you don't have a family member who can come along.
Sharon and Kelsey Reed will be sharing with us their experiences of serving the Lord together. We're asking everyone to bring along a favorite doll or stuffed animal. (Don't worry, they get to go home with you!) This will be a fun afternoon of enjoying time together with family and friends. Everyone will get to make a Christmas ornament to take with them.
Tickets will be on sale Sunday mornings between and after services starting November 2 and Wednesday nights before and after service starting November 5 in the church atrium.
Ticket prices are 1 for $8, 2 for $15, 3 for $20 and 4 for $25.

Annual Caregiver's Day 2006
Ladies who provide care for a family member (husband, children, parents, or siblings) who have a disability, chronic illness, or special need, were invited to the 2nd Annual Caregivers’ Day Saturday, November 4, 2006. We had 42 ladies of all ages attend as caregivers (moms, wives or daughters caring for a family member). We had over 50 people serve through leading worship, making and serving food, providing pampering services, etc.
The morning was spent in fellowship, worship and a devotion shared by Judy Hartzel. Jerry Borton came to say thank you for the loving care each lady provides to their loved ones. They may never hear it from their child, spouse or parent, but as one who has been on the receiving end of Caregivers all his life, he thanked them on their behalf.
Lunch was served, and door prizes were given. The afternoon was open for ladies to go to as many “pampering stations” of their choice. Options included massage (foot or back and shoulders), haircuts, nails, makeup, eyebrow shaping, hand treatments and massage, getting a jump start on Christmas cards (cards supplied free of charge) and three different craft selections. Before leaving each lady received a gift bag overflowing with goodies.
Here are some of the comments received from those who attended:
- Thank you very much for a wonderful Caregiver’s Day. I truly felt pampered and enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you also for the take home bag with all the interesting things in it. There must have been much work done behind the scene to make it such a successful day. Thanks to everyone!
- I never felt so loved, welcomed and unjudged in a church before!
- Everything seemed to have been kicked up a notch this year – it was a great day. Thank you!
- The morning activities were as good as the afternoon of pampering – both were just as wonderful.
And here are some comments from those who served:
- The day was so humbling and inspirational for me! What a challenge in my every day walk with the Lord! Tears were shed with some of the ladies, laughter and encouraging conversations.
- The ladies I talked to were most positive, loved the speaker/devotional and REALLY felt pampered.
- Sign me up for next year!
We have already begun planning for next year’s event on November 3, 2007. If anyone is interested in joining the team contact Denise Atkinson at datkinson@calvary-church.com or 215.723.0963, 163.
