open hand

This ministry team acts as a link to local agencies who serve people in need. Calvary supports food pantries such as the Indian Valley Opportunity Center, Pennridge Fish, and Open Line. We also support agencies dealing with the needs of the homeless such as Indian Valley Housing, Bridge of Hope, Philadelphia Access Center, and Lansdale Community Housing. Calvary and Open Hand also support the following pregnancy centers and programs: Pregnancy Resource Clinic of North Penn and Crossroads Pregnancy Care. Open Hand communicates with these agencies to determine their specific needs and oversee periodic Collection Days in direct response to those needs.

Harvest Home Collection
Wednesday, November 19
Sunday, November 23
Turkey and stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.  It’s great to be with loved ones and family during the Thanksgiving holiday, to know that everyone’s plate will be filled to overflowing! However, some of those within our Calvary Church family and in the local community will have very little to eat this Thanksgiving.

Each year, we collect food for many who are in need during Harvest Home. There are several ways you can help make a difference in someone's life this Thanksgiving.

* Suggest Families in NeedYou may call Debbie at 215.723.0963 x139 with names of people who could use a gift of food.
* Donate FoodYou may bring your non-perishable food items on the collection dates mentioned above to any of our drop-off points (either of the main entrances to the Atrium, or the foyer behind Heritage Hall).
* Sort and/or Deliver DonationsOnce the donations have been received, we will have a team sort the food and put it into care packages. We’ll then deliver the packages to the homes of those whose names have been submitted to the church office. Please consider contributing to this project to share God’s love in a very tangible way this Thanksgiving. May God bless you for caring!

If you are interested in being part of Open Hand in any way, please contact us. We need all kinds of volunteers to help organize before the collection days, sort donations, and deliver items to the community agencies. If you are looking for a way to make a difference, you can get involved in this effort by just helping a few times a year. Email or call Congregational Care at 215.723.0963, ext.139.
