An Interview with Deanna Monohon
Deanna Monohon is one of those lucky folks who can work from her home office. She came to Pennsylvania from Nebraska, by way of Arizona and California about nine years ago, and landed in Towamencin. Missing the chance to connect with fellow believers, she had been searching for a church to call home. Deanna kept driving by Calvary with a yearning to stop in, until one day she did. She and her daughter heard a Calvary message delivered by Charles Zimmerman and they were hooked.
Wanting to be close to her grandchildren as they grew up, Deanna moved to Towamencin when her daughter moved to Doylestown. Deanna and her 90 year-old mother both reside in her townhome in Morgandale. Her son and his family also moved to the area a couple of years ago. Many a Sunday Deanna can be seen at services sitting with her entire family, which brings her great joy.
Even though Calvary is a large church, she has found the people to be unbelievably warm and accepting and has expressed great enthusiasm about the Towamencin Neighborhood Group activities she has been attending. Since Calvary is a large church, these activities bring small communities of folks together. “ It helps to know families in your region who belong to the church and may be available to help one another out.” Recently when one of the Towamencin members landed in the hospital, the Neighborhood Group joined forces to provide meals during their recovery.
The group has held picnics at Fisher Park in Towamencin and participated in a night of mini golf. Now including residents of Lansdale and Hatfield, the group hopes to meet again soon. As Deanna said with a laugh, “Most group activities focus on eating and chatting, something we all love to do.” Check out the Calvary website for information about Neighborhood Gatherings in your area.
