2009 – 2011 vision and priorities

Our vision is to be a multi-generational community of Christ followers known for our missional service, caring relationships, and changed lives.

Our priorities We will continue to grow existing ministries or launch new ministries that align with our vision, have qualified leadership and volunteers in place, and for which the church has the resources to sustain. It can be challenging for a church to be disciplined in their focus on
specific ministry priorities because it means you have to make choices. We believe that by focusing a portion of resources on these areas for a set
period of time, it will help us to accomplish our ministry vision and result in greater kingdom impact.

Here is an overview of our ministry priorities.

MISSIONAL
We are people of hope sent by Christ to help others know and follow Him by extending His grace and compassion.

To advance our vision over the next three years, we will . . .
• Expand our presence and participation in both local and global communities
• Increase personal involvement in sharing Christ, challenging one another through preaching, teaching, and celebrating stories of life transformation
• Plan major outreach events that offer a range of opportunities—from making people aware of God’s love and grace to challenging them to
follow Christ
• Provide a follow-up plan for people who have questions regarding their faith, as well as for those who decide to follow Jesus
• Become a missional community center utilizing our resources to meet community needs

RELATIONAL
We seek to be an authentic community overflowing with grace, love, and hope that welcomes all people to pursue God without fear of rejection or embarrassment.

To advance our vision over the next three years, we will . . .
• Create a plan to help people have a sense of belonging, accountability, and opportunities to give and receive care throughout the ministries of Calvary and in their surrounding neighborhoods
• Increase availability, visibility of, and communication between Calvary leadership and the church body
• Intentionally strengthen the health of marriages and families in Calvary and our community through resources, training, and modeling

TRANSFORMATIONAL
We seek to become more like Jesus by having Him reign in all areas of our lives, resulting in an increasing desire to know and follow Him.

To advance our vision over the next three years, we will . . .
• Develop a plan that will help people move forward in their spiritual growth
• Help people better understand the roles of God, the church, and the individual/family in cultivating spiritual transformation
• Utilize a “Developer Model” to develop a variety of gifted individuals in a healthy Worship Arts team to help cultivate worship experiences and
a community of God worshippers

NEXT GENERATIONS
To advance our vision over the next three years, we will . . .
• Create a plan of spiritual growth that equips children in their transition from childhood through adulthood
• Support the important role of parents as the primary influence in the spiritual development of their children by providing ministries, resources, and training
• Develop a vibrant ministry to impact the diverse population of young adults in our community with the gospel and lead Christ followers to
passionately live for Christ

MINISTRY OPERATIONS
To advance our vision over the next three years, we will . . .
• Strengthen a team approach to leadership among elders and staff, resulting in increased personal and ministry effectiveness and accountability
• Form a team of gifted people to determine the most appropriate and timely way to eliminate our long-term debt, freeing resources to expand our mission
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and accountability by ensuring our budget is built on faith, supports our vision, and aligns our spending with our giving
